What to share
- Describe the symptom: hum, leak or silence
- Send photos under the sink and the model
- We confirm the repair or the replacement
The symptom usually points to the answer.
A hum, a leak or a unit that will not turn on each have a short list of causes. Tell us the symptom and the age of the disposal, and the decision gets easier.
- Humming or jammed motors
- Leaks at the mounting flange or body
- Units that will not power on
- Repeat clogs traced to the disposal or drain line
A disposal is only as good as its connections.
The mounting ring, the drain alignment and the dishwasher hose decide whether it stays dry. We check the sink drain, cabinet space and power before install day.

Before you send the request.
Why is my garbage disposal humming but not spinning?
Stop running it and keep your hand out of the drain. A hum usually means the motor is jammed. Tell us what went down and whether you already tried the reset button.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a garbage disposal?
It comes down to age, what failed and the price of parts. A leak from the body or a burned-out motor usually means replacement. A jam or a bad switch usually does not.
Why is my garbage disposal leaking from the bottom?
Water from the bottom of the unit usually means the internal seal is gone. That is not worth repairing, so the unit gets replaced.
What size disposal do I need?
Household units run from about 1/2 to 1 horsepower. What matters is how you cook and what your drain and wiring can handle. We look at that before recommending a size.
Do I need a plumber or an electrician to install a disposal?
The plumbing side is the mount, the drain and the dishwasher connections. If the outlet or wiring under the sink needs to change, we will flag it and make sure the right trade handles it.
Can you install a disposal where there was not one before?
Often, yes. It depends on the drain layout, the cabinet space and power under the sink. Photos of the cabinet tell us most of what we need.
