What to include in a commercial plumbing bid request

A project-first checklist for builders, general contractors and property teams preparing a commercial plumbing bid request.

A bid request is easier to review when the project is clear before the follow-up. Use this checklist as a starting point; the project documents and procurement requirements come first.

Identify the project and the requesting company. Include the project city, project type, current stage and the requested plumbing scope. If the request covers multiple buildings, phases or units, note that structure clearly.

Add the expected bid deadline, anticipated start or mobilization window, and the best contact for project questions. Share plans, specifications, schedules or an ITB link when the project team is authorized to do so.

Call out known coordination items such as fixtures, inspections, phasing, occupied areas or other trades when they affect the scope. A short, complete request tells us what is known and what still needs clarification.

Common questions

Before you send the request.

Should a commercial request include the project address?

Include the project city and share the address only when the project team authorizes it.

What if plans are not ready yet?

Say what is known, what is still pending and the expected document or bid timeline. That is more useful than assumptions presented as confirmed scope.
